Who creates our content

KilowattKit content is written and maintained by Muhammad Khan (founder) and the KilowattKit team. When external contributors are involved, they are named on the pages they write with a brief bio and any relevant disclosures.

How we choose what to cover

We cover topics where we can add genuine value: calculators and guides where the underlying data is official and verifiable, and where most existing resources are unclear, incomplete, or hidden behind paywalls or email gates. We do not cover topics where we cannot cite a primary official source.

What we never write

  • Guaranteed savings claims ("you will save X")
  • Superlatives without evidence ("best", "cheapest", "number one")
  • Content that constitutes financial, tax, legal, or investment advice
  • Absolute payback period predictions without stated assumptions
  • Content copied or substantially rewritten from competitors

Affiliate disclosure policy

KilowattKit participates in affiliate programmes. When a page contains an affiliate link — for example, a link to request a solar quote or buy a smart thermostat — that page displays an inline disclosure above or immediately below the link.

What affiliate relationships do not affect: Calculator formulas, data defaults, source selection, or the order in which tools and products are mentioned. We do not accept payment for placement in calculator results, comparison tables, or editorial content.

What affiliate relationships do affect: Which partner services we link to. We only link to services we consider reputable based on publicly available information. We do not guarantee the quality of any linked service.

Advertising policy

KilowattKit displays advertisements via Google AdSense. Advertisers have no influence over our editorial content. Ad placement follows Google's policies. We do not allow ads that promote misleading energy savings claims.
